Patients suffering from moderate to severely active rheumatoid arthritis
(RA) may want to consider treatment with Kineret®. Kineret®
has been shown to manage signs and symptoms and slow the progression of joint damage associated with RA in many sufferers
who have not had success with disease-modifying antirheumatic
drugs (DMARDs). It can be used alone or in combination with
DMARDS, except for tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocking
agents, such as etanercept, infliximab, and adalimumab.
Kineret® should not be used by anyone who has an infection that
requires treatment with prescription antibiotics or that is serious
enough to require treatment at a hospital. Kineret® should not be
used by those with an allergy to proteins made from bacterial cells
(E coli), or any of the ingredients in Kineret®, by anyone taking TNF blocking agents, such as
Enbrel® (etanercept), or Remicade®
(infliximab), or Humira® (adalimumab), unless a doctor has issued specific instructions
to do so. When Kineret® is used with TNF blocking agents, such as Enbrel®,
or Remicade®, or Humira®, it
may increase the risk of a serious infection.
